Council Mediator by Howard Terpning

Council Mediator by Howard Terpning is a limited edition giclee on fine art paper size 23″ x 38″ limited to 85 s/n prints. The mixed media drawing is reproduced on 100% cotton rag paper with a velvet surface. The artist has illustrated the wise councilman who negotiated in the gatherings of tribal members and tribes, formed along regional or ethnic lines. In council, decisions were reached by consensus, but youth acknowledged the wisdom and experience of their elders. He brought logic and wisdom to the meetings. The ceremonial staff with feathers both signals this mediator’s role and imbues him with the necessary gravitas to shoulder the responsibilities of the task.
