Absolution Before Victory Irish Brigade at Antietam, Sept. 17, 1862 by Mort Kunstler is a limited edition giclee Signature Edition canvas size 14″ x 29″ limited to 50 s/n canvases. Many historians consider the performance under fire of the Irish Brigade to be extraordinary and some even argue that it was the bravest division of the entire Union Army. As a testament to its sacrifice, the 2nd Corps lost more men during the Civil War than any other unit in the Federal army. A large percentage of that number was left on the fields following the Battle of Antietam in Sharpsburg, Maryland.
The artist has depicted the Brigade, with their beloved commander, General Thomas Meagher, and Father William Corby, riding along the line offering a hasty absolution. Father Corby was also at the battles of Fredericksburg and Gettysburg and offered spiritual strength through absolution.

Outgunned and outnumbered, the women surrendered the town to Union Colonel Oscar H. LaGrange. In return, Union troops spared the town from destruction. The Autograph Seekers of Bel Air (Gen. Lee, Front Royal, VA., July 22, 1863 by Mort Kunstler is a limited edition lithographic print image size 17″ x 31″ limited to 350 s/n prints. The Army of Northern Virginia had just battled the Army of the Potomac in Adams County in Gettysburg, PA often referred to as the high water mark of the Confederacy. While retreating back to the Potomac and Virginia traveling thru Front Royal, VA, a local merchant William M. Buck, invited General Lee and his staff to share refreshments at his nearby estate Bel Air. The stately home had been built in 1795 by Buck’s great-grandfather. The Buck’s daughters entertained the general by playing piano and singing. Lucy later published an account of the evening. Before departing, the two young ladies asked for his autograph. General Lee graciously took a moment to give his signature to the two young ladies who had gifted him with song.
