As I hiked through this ancient city park, where giant red rocks, pushed up out of the ground, over eons ago, dominate the park’s skyline. I spotted this lone pine tree, sitting precariously on the edge of the giant sandstone boulder, it’s roots having found a small niche in the rock to firmly plant itself. I knew I had to paint it because it reminded me of the many obstacles we overcome in order to survive and live our daily lives. An inspiring and peaceful image.
